You must take the Theory test before the Practical test If you are a learner driver, you must take and pass your driving theory test before you book your practical test. Driving Theory Test in car training Steve’s School of Motoring aims to help you pass your theory test through in-car training with our instructors. You can also come into our shop and practice. The theory test is made up of a multiple-choice part and a hazard perception part. You need to pass both parts to pass it. Part One – Multiple-Choice You will be given 57 minutes to answer 50 multiple-choice questions using the touch screen. You need to get 43 answers correct to pass this part of the theory test. Part Two – Hazard Perception You will be presented with a series of 14 video clips which feature everyday road scenes. In each clip there will be at least one developing hazard, but one of the clips will feature two developing hazards. To achieve a high score you'll need to respond to the developing hazard during the early part of its development. The maximum you can score on each hazard is five. You need to get 44 out of 75 possible marks to pass this part of the test. Your driving instructor will help you to ensure you are well prepared to pass the driving theory test.
